Target – L.P. Dover

An assassin . . . that’s what I am.
I’m Wade Chandler by day and a killer at night. I get the job done no matter the cost. Not only do I hunt people for the FBI, but I’m also the owner of Chandler Enterprises, one of the top companies in the southeast.
When Brina Carmichael – daughter of the former president – wants my business advice, it’s hard to resist her long legs and seductive smile. One thing leads to another and now I’m in too deep.
I can’t let her know what I am, but I’ve never wanted a woman the way I want her.
However, harboring secrets comes at a price and I have a feeling she’s keeping some of her own. Especially, when my next mission leads me straight to her.
Turns out she’s not who I thought she was.

So I have read this series out of order, although I don’t think we are surprised. I read Aim first and then I read Trigger and now I am finally on Target! Should be interesting! I am really hooked on these books and I have very high expectations for them.

I really liked Brina she was very sassy and very strong minded and I loved that about her, also that she was so stubborn as they all kept saying. I really liked her plot twist I did not see that coming but I don’t want to say much more because of spoilers! Either way I loved her even more after that.

Wade he made me chuckle a lot through this novel especially how he got annoyed at his father for being protective of Brina I also love how he was willing to help her with her business and I really loved that aspect of this novel and that we saw him in that environment as well as his job. So Wade also doubles as an FBI agent and damn that man is hot when he flips I love how the author describes the fire in his eyes and everything.

The beginning of this book was so dramatic it went from 0 to 100 real fast and it stayed relevant all the way through especially as when her dad was president to her brother being president it was an interesting family dynamic.

I loved the plot, I really want to talk about the twist but I can’t talk about the twist because you all need to be as blown away as I was because I did not expect this twist and it blew me away, I reread like 4 times to make sure what I was reading was right but honestly it blew my mind. I didn’t see it coming. It just made Wade and Brina’s connection all that stronger and I loved it.

The story kept me hooked and turning the pages, I read this in one sitting I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed the characters and the book was written very well. I am so in love with these characters and they are literally perfect. I don’t want to say too much more because honestly you need to read this story without knowing much.

Trigger – L.P. Dover

A killer . . . that’s what I am.
It’s what I do.
It’s what I live for.
I’m no longer the Preston Hale everyone knew. I left that life and the people in it a long time ago the second I made my first kill. I wasn’t going to give in, but when I heard the screams there was no going back.
It triggered the pain, the need.
I knew what I had to do, and I did it well. But I never expected for Emma Turner – the only link to my past – to come back into my life.
She triggers a different emotion inside me, something I hadn’t ever felt.
It’s not a want to kill . . . but a need to CLAIM.

So I have totally read this series out of order but yet again that’s not a surprise, this is the first book in the series and I’ve read the third book Aim and fell in love with it. I’m now starting at the beginning to be ready for the 4th book that’s going to come out. I wish I would do things in order…

My first thought when I started this book was holy shit it is intense, from the very start this was intense and I liked that we got to see what finally triggered Preston into joining the circle of Justice. Everything about this book was intense, I think that would also be my one word to describe Preston: intense.

I loved Emma she was so strong willed and I loved how she refused to not leave Preston and help him. I love how caring she was about her friends and family as well as being passionate about music.

Preston he was intense. I loved him. I loved how stubborn he was at first trying to ignore Emma but that didn’t work and then he got over protective on her and that was so cute. I loved that he wanted to protect her which eventually of course made them be together in the end.

I love the whole meaning of the circle of justice. I also love how Preston has the highest kill count. What I did love about this is that Glenn and Wade were concerned about Preston going down a slippery slope of having to be “put down” so to speak. I love that they try to bring him back and make sure he has something else to live for other than killing for the circle of justice. I love that they care for each other in the circle of justice.

I love Glenn. That’s all I need to say about him.

I love Wade too. I also thought it was hilarious when Preston got jealous of Wade taking Emma out that was amusing also when he asked if they had ever been together.

This book was such a rollercoaster so many twists and turns and I absolutely loved the plot which focused on Preston finding the person who killed his mother and his sister. I felt so bad for him and the guilt he felt my heart broke for him. I loved that when he did finally find their killer her made sure he would never hurt anyone. The plot was amazing and I loved it.

This story was amazing, I really enjoyed the writing, characters and plot I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

Viewing Room – Heidi McLaughlin & L.P. Dover

**STANDALONE NOVEL by New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors, Heidi McLaughlin & L.P. Dover.**

Viewing Room Rules:
The rules of Society X are simple . . . break them and you’re out.
Rule #1 – No names
It doesn’t matter if you want to know, it’s forbidden.
Rule #2 – No exchanging numbers
It doesn’t matter if you want to call, it’s forbidden.
Rule #3 – Everything is to remain strictly anonymous.
It doesn’t matter if you want to tell, it’s forbidden.
Whatever your desire.
Whatever your fantasy.
The Viewing Room will make it happen.
For Kennedy Vaughn, it’s an escape.
For Hunter Miles, entering the Viewing Room means he’s been selected.
What you witness in the viewing room will have you asking for more . . .

So I read Dark Room and loved it, although not what I expected I really enjoyed it. So I knew what I was getting into with this book. I knew what to expect and this story blew me away and I did not expect what happened. I was on the edge of my seat during this book and it was so tense and unexpected and it took some unexpected turns that I totally did not expect but nevertheless was really good!

From the moment this book started it blew me away the attraction between Hunter and Kennedy was off the charts. It is like the moment they laid eyes on each other there was an instant attraction and lust and man did these authors write it well. It was hot and intense. The lap dance between these two was hot and the car sex was fire.

Kennedy is a lawyer and she’s damn good at it too, she starts going to the club to help catch one of her clients’ husband cheating on her and from there it spirals. It spirals brilliantly and better than I ever thought was possible.

I loved that the Hunter was honest and the only reason he was working at Society X was so he could get through school to become a lawyer, honestly the two of them meeting outside the club for the first time was one of my favourite things.

I love how Kennedy and Hunter’s relationship grew and although she tried to keep it professional but it soon failed as they kept falling back into bed with each other and you could see their relationship going from lust to love and I love how they felt about each other.

I love that hunter is willing to risk his job to help Kennedy with her client and even knowing that there is risks. The difference between this book and the first one is the stakes are so much higher in this book, I was on the edge of my seat during this book I could not put it down. The stakes just kept getting higher and higher. I’m also not going to say why because that will totally spoil the plot and it’s better if you don’t know the thing that’s going to happen. Just know I actually felt fear for these characters like I did not know if some of them was going to survive.

I really loved the plot and the characters and the writing was amazing! I will definitely be reading more from this author duo.

Rule #2 – No exchanging numbers

Rule #3 – Everything is to remain strictly anonymous.

The Dark Room is the only place you can live out your fantasies and no one will ever know it’s you.
For Parker, what started out as a business transaction has turned into an addiction.
For Mia, it’s been a chance to discover who she truly is.
What happens in the dark will have you begging for more…

So I started this book because I was in the mood for some hot, erotic reading, and I’m sad to say this cover was decieving. It is not as hot and erotic as you think it would be. Quote honestly this book was nothing like I thought it would be or that the cover gives off, so the cover is slightly misleading. Like there’s sex scenes in it but it’s not what you classify as erotica. That being said I still enjoyed this book better than I thought I would, so just be aware the cover slightly misleading.

This follows Mia and Parker both of these people are very closed off at the beginning of this. Mia is just coming out of a relationship and her ex is a dickhead. Parker is very business had through majority of this and the reason he comes to Society X is because if I remember correctly he’s a silent investor or is about to be. (Forgive my bad memory, I read this at the beginning of October. Should teach me to write better notes.)

Parker and Mia are very cute, I love their relationship so they have two sides really the side of them in the dark room where they don’t know it’s each other and then outside the dark room where Parker is friends with Andrew her brother. I love how much you can tell they care about each other but the banter is hilarious between them.

I love that Parker gives Mia a chance by letting him work with her and believing in her abilities is really sweet and I love it.

I must admit a scene that did make me chuckle is Parker telling himself not to be attracted to Mia despite already sleeping with her in the Dark room, it did make chuckle. I mean unknown to him but he’d already had sex with her. The attraction between these two characters were off the charts, Parker’s reaction when he discovers it’s Mia, but oh my god Mia figuring it out because she met the person who made her necklace. I was on the edge of my seat during those scenes.

I loved Parker admitting his feelings for Mia to her brother and then him already knowing. I love it in stories where everyone else already knows how they feel aboute each other than than them.

I really enjoyed this book, it wasn’t as hot as I thought it would be. The scenes in The Dark room was intense and the sex was written really well. I really enjoyed reading these two authors and I did continue to read the other books in this series although each book can be read as a standalone.

Her eyes blazed with anger. “Why didn’t John tell me this could be done?”
“Because he doesn’t know,” I answered. “Not many people do. We use special government technology. With only a handful of people knowing how to access the satellites. Even so, we can’t figure out every single murder case. There’s just not enough time in the world. It’s important we keep this knowledge contained otherwise it could be used against us.”
She scoffed. “So what you’re saying is that in order to get the special treatment, I have to be someone high up? Like the president or someone with a butt ton of money?” Her hand shook and I could see the rage behind those hazel eyes of hers.
All in all, she was right, but I couldn’t tell her that. But mostly it was because of the safety issues of this type of technology getting into the wrong hands. “That’s not what I’m saying, Kennedy,” I said, hoping to deflect her anger and not sounding like I’m appeasing her. “I’m sorry this happened to you, but I’m here to help. Even looking at the satellites doesn’t guarantee we’ll find the killer. It takes a lot of calculated guesses and that’s where I come in. I go with my gut.”
She blew out a frustrated breath and her eyes softened. “I’m sorry. I wish you knew how hard this was for me.” I understood what she was going through as I’d seen it time and time again. Being a victim, and trying hard not to be one is exhausting and I could see it was taking its toll on her.
I placed a hand over hers, and something about it felt right. “We’re going to find that piece of shit, I promise. Once my package gets delivered today, I’ll set up the cameras around your property so we can keep an eye on everything while we’re gone. And as soon as we get to Wyoming, I’ll use every single resource I have to figure this all out.”
Standing up straighter, she lifted her chin and nodded. “Good. And I want to be right there to help you.”
She looked at me expectantly and I narrowed my gaze, wondering what she had on her mind. I already knew it was something she wanted to keep from John. Didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing, but I had a feeling it was the latter.  “Yeah, about that. What do you want exactly?” I asked.
Her eyes darkened. “I’m not waiting for that psycho to hunt me down again. I want you to teach me how to kill. That way, the next time I see him, he’ll be on the receiving end and not the other way around.” She looked down at the river, her body tense. “I want to look him in the eyes when kill him. You’re the only one who can help me get away with it.”
Yep, it was definitely the latter. I stared at her in disbelief, but also in complete awe. I could get into some serious trouble for helping her. Was it good to give in to revenge? No, but in her case, I’d be the same way if someone killed my mother. She deserved to get her revenge and the killer deserved everything she could dish out and then some.
If it was anyone but Kennedy, I wouldn’t do it. But for her, it would mean closure — I could see that now.
The decision was made.
