So I have read this series out of order, although I don’t think we are surprised. I read Aim first and then I read Trigger and now I am finally on Target! Should be interesting! I am really hooked on these books and I have very high expectations for them.
I really liked Brina she was very sassy and very strong minded and I loved that about her, also that she was so stubborn as they all kept saying. I really liked her plot twist I did not see that coming but I don’t want to say much more because of spoilers! Either way I loved her even more after that.
Wade he made me chuckle a lot through this novel especially how he got annoyed at his father for being protective of Brina I also love how he was willing to help her with her business and I really loved that aspect of this novel and that we saw him in that environment as well as his job. So Wade also doubles as an FBI agent and damn that man is hot when he flips I love how the author describes the fire in his eyes and everything.
The beginning of this book was so dramatic it went from 0 to 100 real fast and it stayed relevant all the way through especially as when her dad was president to her brother being president it was an interesting family dynamic.
I loved the plot, I really want to talk about the twist but I can’t talk about the twist because you all need to be as blown away as I was because I did not expect this twist and it blew me away, I reread like 4 times to make sure what I was reading was right but honestly it blew my mind. I didn’t see it coming. It just made Wade and Brina’s connection all that stronger and I loved it.
The story kept me hooked and turning the pages, I read this in one sitting I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed the characters and the book was written very well. I am so in love with these characters and they are literally perfect. I don’t want to say too much more because honestly you need to read this story without knowing much.
I’d like to thank Give Me book promotions for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated this is book number 5 in the BTU Alumni series and I love this world so much and it’s one of my favourites. I read Power Play, Tap Out, Sweet Victory and Puck Performance. I love this world and it will always be one of my favourites to dive back into this world. I love how as always we get all the names from the text chain at the beginning it’s definitely one of my favourite things.
So I have loved Maddey since we first met her all those books again, I was so happy to know that our Queen of Smut was finally getting her ending because she definitely deserved it. I was hoping it would be with Ryan but it did not turn out to be him it turns out she denied his proposal and they broke up but are still really good friends. I was sad about that but I definitely was not disappointed with who her hero actually was.
Dex. He was definitely a different character one who wouldn’t bend to what Maddey wanted or be took control of when it came to her protection. I loved him and how much he cared for her and trying to not fall for her or let anybody know how he felt which obviously doesn’t happen.
So we first start this book with when Dex gets there Maddey does no more than tasers him in the balls. It was so funny and I was dying of laughter. One thing this couple did was keep me on my toes and I loved it, I loved how their relationship slowly grew into what it was and the connection these two had as well as the sexual tension between them both was off the charts.
I did not expect who the stalker was it came as a complete surprise to me and I did not see it coming! I still can’t believe he used the poor doggos as a distraction like what a bastard. I mean I know stalking is bad but you know those poor doggies. Thankfully they survived what he did. My priorities are weird there aren’t they?
So one of my favourite moments in this book is when Maddey’s brothers find out she and Dex are together. Their reactions are hilarious and the fact they were betting on how long it would take them to get together is even more funny. I loved that they just basically knew Dex was the right person for Maddey and they were just waiting for them two to see it.
I love the text chains and I love how they all react to her stories I love the supportive friends and it’s so good! I’m glad Maddey finally got her happy ending and I loved it!

I’d like to thank Aly Stiles and her PA for sending me an arc of this book it is very much appreciated. This is the first book I have read by this author and boy it did not disappoint. I was destroyed by this book emotionally and not even half way through did I start crying. Being New Adult you expect a certain amount of light heartedness and not generally hard hitting emotional stories, the kind where it hits you right in the feels.
From the moment we’re introduced to Ashton I felt so bad for him having to give up school to deal with his mother just so he can care for his brother after discovering she is up to her eyeballs in debt. Since that moment Ashton has worked as much as possible to help provide for his brother. Ashton is responsible, he’s a hard worker, he doesn’t let himself hope after having it taken away once already.
Iris is carefree she is the complete opposite to Ashton, her father is a billionaire and she doesn’t have to worry about much other than her university. She instantly lays her eyes on Ashton and she’s determined to get him, even if it means pushing herself into his life and not stopping until she’s got his attention. Iris is so kind and lovely and honestly I loved her character she was strong willed and feisty.
I really loved how strong willed Iris was and how much she was not willing to give up. I loved the connection between Ashton and Iris the banter these two had with each I loved it. They made me laugh quite a few times. I loved how their relationship developed and the moment Ashton finally stops pushing Iris away and they have their first kiss is spectacular it’s like hallelujah finally.
Many times through this book I was crying, this book hit me in the feels it was so emotional and so many times through this book I just wanted to give Ashton a hug and never let him go.
I really enjoyed the relationship that Iris and her dad had the honesty and the way he treated Ashton was also so lovely. I really liked the relationship that her dad, Kyle, and Ashton grow to have throughout the book. I loved that he was willing to champion for him and believe him and give him options when he really thought he was out of options.
Ashton’s mum and Iris are scum and I do not like them and they deserve to be hit by buses. Iris especially. What she does just made me really angry and honestly she deserved so much worse to happen to her.
I really enjoyed this book I will definitely be reading more from Aly Stiles I really liked her writing and the way she writes her books and her characters making me fall in love with them and I just I loved this book so much.
So Rider’s book is one I was looking forward to so much and honestly I felt really let down by it all. I expected more from Rider’s books he’s always been a really big part of all the other novels so I expected his to be amazing and fabulous and it just wasn’t and it really disappointed me. I wish we had discovered the real Rider and not the one that puts on a front for every different person. He deserved better.
I love me some Last Riders revenge and do our boys know how to dish it out good. Rider fighting is extremely hot and damn all the men fighting are hot I just clearly have no self control when it comes to these man. So when Gavin rocked up I was like yesss my baby back home where he belongs. The way he deals with Crash I think says everything about who Gavin is about a person, if someone put you in the circumstances that Gavin was put in and you had the chance to do whatever you want to them and you don’t take that opportunity I think that says a lot. Gavin instead of making Crash suffer just snaps his neck and kills him.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Shade is legit Cupid and he does his job amazingly of playing Cupid. I am also very amused that all the married men are trying to get Rider married so they leave their women alone I find hilarious. The reactions to Rider being able to fool the women is hilarious and it amuses me to no end.
So we found out in another book I believe that Jo was raped in school by Curt Dawkins and when Jo was telling Rider about her ordeal god it broke my heart slightly.
Although these two didn’t have the instant chemistry I really did like how it grew and how their relationship bonded especially when Jo got sick. Rider took care of her and Train plowed the snow for her because she was too poorly. Not only that Rider fixed everything in her house and I loved that he just wanted to take care of her and the issues and it was cute.
I really like that Jo told Rider the truth about what Aly was planning and that Jo was part of it and she didn’t want to be but Aly wouldn’t let her out of it. I was glad when she finally told the truth.
Jo and Rider bonding over the bikes and cars, I love that we finally see a woman in these novels that have interests in the car and bikes. Jo and Jewell fighting was absolutely hilarious. I also loved how Jo and Gavin talked like they did I thought it was a nice touch especially how frustrated Rider is because Gavin isn’t really talking to him.
So we get to see Rider watching the security cameras and it is hilarious when Jo is with him when they are watching them. I also thought it was very amusing that the men are still provoking Lucky and Shade had to explain to Jo why when Shade called in his favour for Rider to take the beating this month. True friendship right there.
So it all got very serious very fast. Aly attacking everyone. What I loved in this was Rider yelling at Gavin to save his woman it wasn’t something I was expecting and I love that it’s the way that Rider finally gets through to Gavin and it’s for him to save her woman. I just loved it in that moment because they all knew that Gavin would come through for them.
So one of my favourite things in The Last Riders is how much all the members love to watch the men taking shit from the women but hate when it happens to them it is hilarious.
Rider’s jealousy is very surprising, considering he shares so much in the other books and doesn’t want to share Jo I found very surprising also kind of out of character for the man that we knew in all of the other books.
Again some of those epilogues we didn’t need, we didn’t need to know that Rider dies like I would have been happy without that! Like your girl here didn’t need to know that. It happens quite a bit that I just forget that the last epilogues exist because it’s just too much!
So again my main feeling about this was very disappointed but it was okay I still enjoyed it I just wish he had better.
So I have totally read this series out of order but yet again that’s not a surprise, this is the first book in the series and I’ve read the third book Aim and fell in love with it. I’m now starting at the beginning to be ready for the 4th book that’s going to come out. I wish I would do things in order…
My first thought when I started this book was holy shit it is intense, from the very start this was intense and I liked that we got to see what finally triggered Preston into joining the circle of Justice. Everything about this book was intense, I think that would also be my one word to describe Preston: intense.
I loved Emma she was so strong willed and I loved how she refused to not leave Preston and help him. I love how caring she was about her friends and family as well as being passionate about music.
Preston he was intense. I loved him. I loved how stubborn he was at first trying to ignore Emma but that didn’t work and then he got over protective on her and that was so cute. I loved that he wanted to protect her which eventually of course made them be together in the end.
I love the whole meaning of the circle of justice. I also love how Preston has the highest kill count. What I did love about this is that Glenn and Wade were concerned about Preston going down a slippery slope of having to be “put down” so to speak. I love that they try to bring him back and make sure he has something else to live for other than killing for the circle of justice. I love that they care for each other in the circle of justice.
I love Glenn. That’s all I need to say about him.
I love Wade too. I also thought it was hilarious when Preston got jealous of Wade taking Emma out that was amusing also when he asked if they had ever been together.
This book was such a rollercoaster so many twists and turns and I absolutely loved the plot which focused on Preston finding the person who killed his mother and his sister. I felt so bad for him and the guilt he felt my heart broke for him. I loved that when he did finally find their killer her made sure he would never hurt anyone. The plot was amazing and I loved it.
This story was amazing, I really enjoyed the writing, characters and plot I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!
SEBASTIAN Man, Kate is the definition of cat lady. She’s all work and no play, the stick up her peachy ass is lodged so far up there, she’s the star of her own muppet show. Somehow, my baby sister’s landed me a starring role. Now that we’re stuck together, I’m determined to put the fun into Kate. It’s just too bad her sense of humor sucks harder than she does. But I’m a patient guy, if I can crack code, I can crack her. And I’ll take all the pleasure in it.
She can deny it all she wants, but I know she loves me and my jokes.
KATE Sebastian doesn’t take anything seriously. Life is one big dick joke to him. So when Amelia, his sister and my best friend, tells me we will be working together on an upcoming pitch… not amused. He loves to rattle me. Everything he does drives me crazy.
He might think I love him, but I just love to hate him.
I’d like to thank Bare Naked Words for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. I have never heard of these two authors but I choose to review this book because I loved the sound of the blurb and enemies to lovers I’m there. I love a good enemies to lovers and this one certainly didn’t disappoint.
This story focuses on Kate and Sebastian as they are forced to work together after Amelia, Kate’s best friend and Sebastian’s sister, realises that she can’t keep up her work load whilst pregnant. As you can imagine a million sparks fly and it is so good!
Kate is trying to protect her heart after her ex fiancé decided to tell her he’d been sleeping with a man. Since then she’s concentrated on working and steering clear of the dating scene. She’s a very structured person and likes to follow routine and have everything as perfect as possible which as an event planner you need to be.
Sebastian is hilarious, he likes to play jokes and annoy Kate at every possible moment. He does everything possible when it comes to his sister and is always willing to do be there for her. He’s a great friend to his friends. He’s also very geeky and nerdy and I love it!
Amelia I feel deserves a mention even though she’s a side character. (I have found out she has her own book which I’m going to go read because I am attached to these people.) I really liked Amelia and how much she was willing to push Kate to get back on the dating horse. She loves her brother and her best friend and tries everything to get them to get on. One thing I did love about Amelia is that she wasn’t mad or anything when she finds out about Sebastian and Kate being together.
Sebastian and Kate their relationship was full of fire, sexual tension and attraction and some hilarious banter. I loved the whole aspect of enemies to lovers between these two, Kate finds Sebastian unbearable and annoying and he gets under her skin, where Sebastian finds it amusing to get under her skin. I love how although they are arguing with each other and hating you can see the attraction between them. Honestly their first kiss was so sexy and full of passion which describes the whole of their relationship. The way Kate pushes Sebastian away and Sebastian pushes for them to be together.
I fell in love with these two fast and I am very attached to these two and I just love them. I think they could possibly be my new favourite couple. Just their whole journey as a couple and throughout this book is amazing and when the thing happened and how supportive instantly Sebastian was I loved it. I was very happy. It was nice that the roles were reversed for freaking out. <—- This is me not trying to spoil it.
I love how we saw the shift from both of these characters when they started to love each other rather than hate each other and I loved that we could clearly see that. Also the way Sebastian would defend Kate when it came to Amelia I loved.
The authors definitely know how to write their sex scenes there was very sexy, hot and honestly so good. The authors writing in general I really loved the way they wrote this story definitely hit me in the feels certain times.
Preston. The boy deserves a mention I love him and I honestly cannot wait for his story. This is going to be a series that I carry on reading because I am certainly hooked with these authors.
After reading A Discovery of Witches this was definitely what I didn’t realise I needed to read. I loved it so much.
I would like to thank Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book! This is not the first Claire Douglas book I have read, I read her novel the sisters (back when I first started this blog). I really liked the writing and I really should have known what to expect from Claire because of her previous novel being twisted and that is exactly what this book does.
I really liked the plot it was very complex and the story telling was very complex and although we had one main focus which was the storyline of Sophie being missing and then is found dead. The subplots that went along with it and they were very interlinked and it worked very well. This book was really amazing and I really enjoyed reading it. The book was told in two points of views, Frankie who told the story of the present and the events that were happening in the story. Sophie then told the story of the past and what led up to her death. Frankie was a very unreliable narrator.
I really wasn’t a fan of Frankie’s character she was very unstable and I thought she was slightly delusional at one point. Frankie managed to convince herself that events happened differently to what they did. (Really trying to not spoil her. Sorry if vague). She believed her own lies that much, she didn’t really have any good points to redeem her, she was very possessive and at times didn’t treat the people around her right and as they should be taught.
Sophie, she could tell how Frankie was and once we find out a few secrets (Don’t want to say because of spoilers). Sophie begins to see what kind of person Frankie is and we can see how it goes from a very tight friendship to one where Sophie doesn’t know what to do and how to act around Frankie. I felt like in the parts that she told Frankie spent most of her time putting Sophie down and making her feel bad for how she looked and act. Sophie should have had more convinced and in the novel, we do see the change in Sophie.
Daniel is a brilliant actor I have so much to say about this but I don’t want to spoil you guys! You need to read this! Daniel was very much playing Frankie and I didn’t even guess it! I was so surprised and I loved him as a character. As I say I want to say so much more but do not want to spoil it for you.
In the story Frankie depicts Leon (the boy Sophie was dating) as very angry and unstable and that he just didn’t care about Sophie and that’s so far from the truth. He really did care about her and it showed not only in the past but in the future when Frankie began to question him over Sophie’s death. He didn’t want to bring up old past memories and the scenes where they were together it was really cute and I really enjoyed it.
It was a slight happy ending for Daniel, Leon, Mia and (someone else but Spoilers). I did not guess the ending, I didn’t guess anything in this story. I only guessed that Frankie was a little unstable but I didn’t guess anything that happened. I love it when I don’t guess, though! The epilogue was very clever it was told as if it was from a chapter in the book he was writing about catching a killer, it was very good and added to the story.
I would like to thank OfTomes for sending me an E-ARC it is very much appreciated. So this is a book that came from wattpad and I am very familiar with wattpad, I am on it myself and I do say I’m glad I didn’t read it when it was on wattpad (I usually end up hating the published versions.)
One of the many things I loved about this book was that when Halen is entered into this world she actually freaks out like it’s a major freak out not one of those little pathetic ones where you get over it in a few chapters. This was a big positive for me in this book and that we could see a lasting effect on not being told about this other world. We see Halen begin to question who she can and can’t trust and in some books, we don’t see it, so I am really glad that we did see the ripple of this effect in the book!
The secondary characters were some of my favourites and the fact that at times they were used for comic relief was even better, I fell in love with all of these characters. Especially Halan and Tage. I really liked the relationship that developed between Halan and Tage and the fact that they were willing to do what it took especially Tage and although at the beginning they didn’t really like each other, it was nice to it grow into a bond where they actually both relied on each other a lot.
I loved the guardian aspect of this book it wasn’t something that I was expecting, and usually, we see guardian’s in things like witches or fae or wolves and vampires it was very nice to see it placed somewhere different. I also loved what the guardian’s actually meant for the people who had them. The concept or mermaids being evil is something I love and isn’t explored that often this novel also included sirens into it, and I loved the fact that instead of sirens being totally evil they weren’t (at least not all of them).
Halan’s love interest is, of course, Dax and he was a very interesting character after Halan discovers that she had a twin sister Natalie who was killed. Dax was very close with Natalie and we see how much her darkness affects Dax and how he projects that worry onto Natalie not wanting her to follow the same route as her twin. Dax is very strong and his relationship with Natalie was completely different than with Halan and he was working hard on making sure that she didn’t follow the same route. Natalie felt like the catalyst for everything that happened in Halan’s life when the novel started. =
This story is brilliant and gripping I couldn’t put the book down I read it in one sitting and I was addicted I just kept turning and turning the page and before I knew it, the story was over and that made me incredibly sad. I need more. I need the next book! Because of that ending, wow! This book just gave me the feels and I really want the next one! I would go into more detail but I don’t want this to be spoiler-y but I loved some of the moments in this book.
I’d like to thank Lindsay for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. I had high hopes for this book and of course it did not let me down!
Oh my god poor King loosing his wife and daughter, that was heartbreaking! It hits you as soon as you open this book, you’re hit with King loosing his family and it was honestly heartbreaking. Like it hits you in the feels immediately. Then obviously after Operation Mayhem it changed him a lot into somebody who is untrusting and only has one thing on his mind and that is revenge after Dawson shot him in the eye.
I really like Laura, stubborn and yet smart (ish) in a way, after King turned up she kind of was more switched onto the fact that Dawson wasn’t telling the whole truth to her. I loved how caring and protective she was of Faith and that she was willing to look after her like she was her own child.
Faith is the cutest little human ever. I loved her, I also loved how the guys take both of them in and are willing to help them no matter what. Also the fact she has a hearing aid I also think was very interesting and I liked how that was represented and it was very interesting.
I love the connection between King and Laura, the way it just built between them before it became a sexual attraction between them. Especially as he fills her in on what happened with Dawson who is her brother and Operation Mayhem as a whole. I also think it was very interesting that she managed to be able to convince King to let her revenge go and not kill him but instead try to help him and I thought that was very interesting.
King and Faith had a very interesting relationship and it was so cute. I really don’t know what it is about characters and kids that aren’t theirs that the relationship between them just becomes more special and more cute especially as you see the bond between them create and I just think that’s precious and sweet. So all three of them together is also the cutest thing ever.
Holy shit what a ride. I can’t believe they’ve managed to capture Dawson and even that instead of killing him are willing to help him and protect him. I guess deep down for them he’s still part of their team and they are starting to live normal lives so he should too. I just think it was interesting ending and one I totally wasn’t expecting.
Can’t wait for the next book! These books keep me hooked and Lindsay put a post up the other day saying we are expecting the next one out in 2020 so I have a bit to wait but it will be worth it!
A few words for this book, fucking mental, like oh my god. I had so many mind changes through this, like one minute I liked Beatrice and then I hated her and the same with Ben. From the start I thought Beatrice and Ben was a little fucked up and it only proved it when the “secret” is later revealed in the book. And when it is finally revealed it makes a lot of bleeping sense. Like from the start you can see this isn’t normal, fair enough being close to your twin but not that close.
I really did like Abi’s character, the blame she felt for the death of her sister felt so real, which i loved about her. It was nice that her friends and family was worried about her living on her own, but they weren’t protective to the point of stalking around the town or something. And even after her break down she didn’t always believe she was crazy when she thought Beatrice was tricking her and making her seem crazy.
Now Ben is a suck mother flipper, doing that to Abi like made me really mad, taking stuff that her dead twin sister gave her and then making sure Beatrice got the blame. Through the story Ben’s character slowly unravels but you don’t realise just how messed up he is until Nia makes Abi go and find this Morag and then Ben’s brother tells them the story that he knew. We see Ben’s anger when he attacks Beatrice and then she still goes back to him which i think in itself is just bloody bonkers, but of course she loves him. I can only see how that relationship will go, who will be dead in the end? oh wait she will <– That was my one annoyance about this book the fact she went back to him after he basically kicked the shit out of her.
With my up and down likeness of Beatrice i think my favourite part of her character is when she is at Abi’s parent’s house and is telling her the full story of everything that happened. That moment was my favourite one in the entire book, just listening to them both figure out what Ben had done to them, and that Beatrice really was just concerned about her and not trying to split her and Ben up it was a nice moment.
