Writing Dirty -Alley Ciz

51037872. sy475
“I’ve always been her shelter in the storm.”

Hockey players.
MMA fighters.
Rock stars.
The boys in blue.
Even sexy SEALs have all offered to slay my dragon—or in my case, my stalker.

Why can’t they get it through their thick, stubborn heads that I can take care of myself?
I’m no damsel!
What if the real villain in this story is me?

Now the one person I’ve never been able to resist has appointed himself as my protector.

I don’t know what’s more at risk—my life or my heart.

WRITING DIRTY is an interconnected stand-alone of the BTU Alumni squad with scenes steamy enough to inspire this romance writing Covenette. This laugh out loud rom-com features a cast of characters who don’t know how to stay in their lane, a heroine who refuses to be a damsel, and a hero determined to prove he can deliver one hell of a happily ever after.

I’d like to thank Give Me book promotions for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated this is book number 5 in the BTU Alumni series and I love this world so much and it’s one of my favourites. I read Power Play, Tap Out, Sweet Victory and Puck Performance. I love this world and it will always be one of my favourites to dive back into this world. I love how as always we get all the names from the text chain at the beginning it’s definitely one of my favourite things.

So I have loved Maddey since we first met her all those books again, I was so happy to know that our Queen of Smut was finally getting her ending because she definitely deserved it. I was hoping it would be with Ryan but it did not turn out to be him it turns out she denied his proposal and they broke up but are still really good friends. I was sad about that but I definitely was not disappointed with who her hero actually was.

Dex. He was definitely a different character one who wouldn’t bend to what Maddey wanted or be took control of when it came to her protection. I loved him and how much he cared for her and trying to not fall for her or let anybody know how he felt which obviously doesn’t happen.

So we first start this book with when Dex gets there Maddey does no more than tasers him in the balls. It was so funny and I was dying of laughter. One thing this couple did was keep me on my toes and I loved it, I loved how their relationship slowly grew into what it was and the connection these two had as well as the sexual tension between them both was off the charts.

I did not expect who the stalker was it came as a complete surprise to me and I did not see it coming! I still can’t believe he used the poor doggos as a distraction like what a bastard. I mean I know stalking is bad but you know those poor doggies. Thankfully they survived what he did. My priorities are weird there aren’t they?

So one of my favourite moments in this book is when Maddey’s brothers find out she and Dex are together. Their reactions are hilarious and the fact they were betting on how long it would take them to get together is even more funny. I loved that they just basically knew Dex was the right person for Maddey and they were just waiting for them two to see it.

I love the text chains and I love how they all react to her stories I love the supportive friends and it’s so good! I’m glad Maddey finally got her happy ending and I loved it!

Ashton Morgan Apartment 17B – Aly Stiles

56180072. sy475

An angsty and emotional new adult romance that can be read as a standalone.

Ashton Morgan doesn’t have a chance.

With a young brother and an immature mother to support, he had no choice but to drop out of college to keep his family afloat. But the day his future came crashing down was just the beginning of a tortured journey that won’t let him up for air.

College student Iris Alexander has everything—except the person who’s captured her heart. As the daughter of a billionaire, she understands why the captivating young landscaper is wary of her and her lifestyle. But the harder she tries, the harder he resists. If only she can convince him that he’s the only real treasure in her flashy world.

She needs a purpose.
He needs a lifeline.

They’ll both need each other to survive the present and fight for a future.

I’d like to thank Aly Stiles and her PA for sending me an arc of this book it is very much appreciated. This is the first book I have read by this author and boy it did not disappoint. I was destroyed by this book emotionally and not even half way through did I start crying. Being New Adult you expect a certain amount of light heartedness and not generally hard hitting emotional stories, the kind where it hits you right in the feels.

From the moment we’re introduced to Ashton I felt so bad for him having to give up school to deal with his mother just so he can care for his brother after discovering she is up to her eyeballs in debt. Since that moment Ashton has worked as much as possible to help provide for his brother. Ashton is responsible, he’s a hard worker, he doesn’t let himself hope after having it taken away once already.

Iris is carefree she is the complete opposite to Ashton, her father is a billionaire and she doesn’t have to worry about much other than her university. She instantly lays her eyes on Ashton and she’s determined to get him, even if it means pushing herself into his life and not stopping until she’s got his attention. Iris is so kind and lovely and honestly I loved her character she was strong willed and feisty.

I really loved how strong willed Iris was and how much she was not willing to give up. I loved the connection between Ashton and Iris the banter these two had with each I loved it. They made me laugh quite a few times. I loved how their relationship developed and the moment Ashton finally stops pushing Iris away and they have their first kiss is spectacular it’s like hallelujah finally.

Many times through this book I was crying, this book hit me in the feels it was so emotional and so many times through this book I just wanted to give Ashton a hug and never let him go.

I really enjoyed the relationship that Iris and her dad had the honesty and the way he treated Ashton was also so lovely. I really liked the relationship that her dad, Kyle, and Ashton grow to have throughout the book. I loved that he was willing to champion for him and believe him and give him options when he really thought he was out of options.

Ashton’s mum and Iris are scum and I do not like them and they deserve to be hit by buses. Iris especially. What she does just made me really angry and honestly she deserved so much worse to happen to her.

I really enjoyed this book I will definitely be reading more from Aly Stiles I really liked her writing and the way she writes her books and her characters making me fall in love with them and I just I loved this book so much.

Love 2 Hate U – Sophie Blue & Alexandra Silva

55383301. sy475

Man, Kate is the definition of cat lady. She’s all work and no play, the stick up her peachy ass is lodged so far up there, she’s the star of her own muppet show. Somehow, my baby sister’s landed me a starring role. Now that we’re stuck together, I’m determined to put the fun into Kate. It’s just too bad her sense of humor sucks harder than she does. But I’m a patient guy, if I can crack code, I can crack her. And I’ll take all the pleasure in it.

She can deny it all she wants, but I know she loves me and my jokes.

Sebastian doesn’t take anything seriously. Life is one big dick joke to him. So when Amelia, his sister and my best friend, tells me we will be working together on an upcoming pitch… not amused. He loves to rattle me. Everything he does drives me crazy.

He might think I love him, but I just love to hate him.

I’d like to thank Bare Naked Words for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. I have never heard of these two authors but I choose to review this book because I loved the sound of the blurb and enemies to lovers I’m there. I love a good enemies to lovers and this one certainly didn’t disappoint.

This story focuses on Kate and Sebastian as they are forced to work together after Amelia, Kate’s best friend and Sebastian’s sister, realises that she can’t keep up her work load whilst pregnant. As you can imagine a million sparks fly and it is so good!

Kate is trying to protect her heart after her ex fiancé decided to tell her he’d been sleeping with a man. Since then she’s concentrated on working and steering clear of the dating scene. She’s a very structured person and likes to follow routine and have everything as perfect as possible which as an event planner you need to be.

Sebastian is hilarious, he likes to play jokes and annoy Kate at every possible moment. He does everything possible when it comes to his sister and is always willing to do be there for her. He’s a great friend to his friends. He’s also very geeky and nerdy and I love it!

Amelia I feel deserves a mention even though she’s a side character. (I have found out she has her own book which I’m going to go read because I am attached to these people.) I really liked Amelia and how much she was willing to push Kate to get back on the dating horse. She loves her brother and her best friend and tries everything to get them to get on. One thing I did love about Amelia is that she wasn’t mad or anything when she finds out about Sebastian and Kate being together.

Sebastian and Kate their relationship was full of fire, sexual tension and attraction and some hilarious banter. I loved the whole aspect of enemies to lovers between these two, Kate finds Sebastian unbearable and annoying and he gets under her skin, where Sebastian finds it amusing to get under her skin. I love how although they are arguing with each other and hating you can see the attraction between them. Honestly their first kiss was so sexy and full of passion which describes the whole of their relationship. The way Kate pushes Sebastian away and Sebastian pushes for them to be together.

I fell in love with these two fast and I am very attached to these two and I just love them. I think they could possibly be my new favourite couple. Just their whole journey as a couple and throughout this book is amazing and when the thing happened and how supportive instantly Sebastian was I loved it. I was very happy. It was nice that the roles were reversed for freaking out. <—- This is me not trying to spoil it.

I love how we saw the shift from both of these characters when they started to love each other rather than hate each other and I loved that we could clearly see that. Also the way Sebastian would defend Kate when it came to Amelia I loved.

The authors definitely know how to write their sex scenes there was very sexy, hot and honestly so good. The authors writing in general I really loved the way they wrote this story definitely hit me in the feels certain times.

Preston. The boy deserves a mention I love him and I honestly cannot wait for his story. This is going to be a series that I carry on reading because I am certainly hooked with these authors.

After reading A Discovery of Witches this was definitely what I didn’t realise I needed to read. I loved it so much.

Local Girl Missing – Claire Douglas

The old Victorian pier was once a thing of beauty. It’s also where twenty-one-year-old Sophie Collier vanished eighteen years ago.
Francesca has spent the last twenty years haunted by the disappearance of her best friend. But when she receives a phone call from Sophie’s brother saying that a body has been found, she knows she can’t keep hiding from what happened. With her own secrets to keep, Francesca doesn’t relish the idea of digging up the past or returning to Oldcliffe. But it is time to go back to where she grew up, and it looks like she isn’t the only one there hiding truths.

I would like to thank Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book! This is not the first Claire Douglas book I have read, I read her novel the sisters (back when I first started this blog). I really liked the writing and I really should have known what to expect from Claire because of her previous novel being twisted and that is exactly what this book does.

I really liked the plot it was very complex and the story telling was very complex and although we had one main focus which was the storyline of Sophie being missing and then is found dead. The subplots that went along with it and they were very interlinked and it worked very well. This book was really amazing and I really enjoyed reading it. The book was told in two points of views, Frankie who told the story of the present and the events that were happening in the story. Sophie then told the story of the past and what led up to her death. Frankie was a very unreliable narrator.

I really wasn’t a fan of Frankie’s character she was very unstable and I thought she was slightly delusional at one point. Frankie managed to convince herself that events happened differently to what they did. (Really trying to not spoil her. Sorry if vague). She believed her own lies that much, she didn’t really have any good points to redeem her, she was very possessive and at times didn’t treat the people around her right and as they should be taught.

Sophie, she could tell how Frankie was and once we find out a few secrets (Don’t want to say because of spoilers). Sophie begins to see what kind of person Frankie is and we can see how it goes from a very tight friendship to one where Sophie doesn’t know what to do and how to act around Frankie. I felt like in the parts that she told Frankie spent most of her time putting Sophie down and making her feel bad for how she looked and act. Sophie should have had more convinced and in the novel, we do see the change in Sophie.

Daniel is a brilliant actor I have so much to say about this but I don’t want to spoil you guys! You need to read this! Daniel was very much playing Frankie and I didn’t even guess it! I was so surprised and I loved him as a character. As I say I want to say so much more but do not want to spoil it for you.

In the story Frankie depicts Leon (the boy Sophie was dating) as very angry and unstable and that he just didn’t care about Sophie and that’s so far from the truth. He really did care about her and it showed not only in the past but in the future when Frankie began to question him over Sophie’s death. He didn’t want to bring up old past memories and the scenes where they were together it was really cute and I really enjoyed it.

It was a slight happy ending for Daniel, Leon, Mia and (someone else but Spoilers). I did not guess the ending, I didn’t guess anything in this story. I only guessed that Frankie was a little unstable but I didn’t guess anything that happened. I love it when I don’t guess, though! The epilogue was very clever it was told as if it was from a chapter in the book he was writing about catching a killer, it was very good and added to the story.

Coral and Bone – Tiffany Daune

As she explores Elosia, she realizes her life has been a lie. And when those who have deceived her come to her for help, Halen must choose—walk away or unleash the magick that could destroy them all.

I would like to thank OfTomes for sending me an E-ARC it is very much appreciated. So this is a book that came from wattpad and I am very familiar with wattpad, I am on it myself and I do say I’m glad I didn’t read it when it was on wattpad (I usually end up hating the published versions.)

One of the many things I loved about this book was that when Halen is entered into this world she actually freaks out like it’s a major freak out not one of those little pathetic ones where you get over it in a few chapters. This was a big positive for me in this book and that we could see a lasting effect on not being told about this other world. We see Halen begin to question who she can and can’t trust and in some books, we don’t see it, so I am really glad that we did see the ripple of this effect in the book!

The secondary characters were some of my favourites and the fact that at times they were used for comic relief was even better, I fell in love with all of these characters. Especially Halan and Tage. I really liked the relationship that developed between Halan and Tage and the fact that they were willing to do what it took especially Tage and although at the beginning they didn’t really like each other, it was nice to it grow into a bond where they actually both relied on each other a lot.

I loved the guardian aspect of this book it wasn’t something that I was expecting, and usually, we see guardian’s in things like witches or fae or wolves and vampires it was very nice to see it placed somewhere different. I also loved what the guardian’s actually meant for the people who had them. The concept or mermaids being evil is something I love and isn’t explored that often this novel also included sirens into it, and I loved the fact that instead of sirens being totally evil they weren’t (at least not all of them).

Halan’s love interest is, of course, Dax and he was a very interesting character after Halan discovers that she had a twin sister Natalie who was killed. Dax was very close with Natalie and we see how much her darkness affects Dax and how he projects that worry onto Natalie not wanting her to follow the same route as her twin. Dax is very strong and his relationship with Natalie was completely different than with Halan and he was working hard on making sure that she didn’t follow the same route. Natalie felt like the catalyst for everything that happened in Halan’s life when the novel started. =

This story is brilliant and gripping I couldn’t put the book down I read it in one sitting and I was addicted I just kept turning and turning the page and before I knew it, the story was over and that made me incredibly sad. I need more. I need the next book! Because of that ending, wow! This book just gave me the feels and I really want the next one! I would go into more detail but I don’t want this to be spoiler-y but I loved some of the moments in this book.

This incredibly emotional romance will take you through the highs and lows of new love, the treachery of betrayal and the uncertainty of danger in a heart pounding journey of discovery.

So if you followed my blog you will know I went down a whole of Lindsay Cross and I love her books especially her Men of Mercy series and the Operation Mayhem series. They include: Redemption River (Men of Mercy #1)Resurrection River (Men of Mercy #2)Reckless River (Men Of Mercy #3)Ravaged River (Men of Mercy #4)Rebellious River (Men of Mercy #5)Ravished River (Men of Mercy #6)Revenge River (Men Of Mercy #7)Mercy and Mayhem (Men of Mercy #8)(Operation Mayhem 0.5)Mayhem’s Warrior (Operation Mayhem #1)Mayhem’s Desire (Operation Mayhem #2) and Mayhem’s Hero (Operation Mayhem #3). So now I have to be waiting patiently for the new books to come out…

I’d like to thank Lindsay for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. I had high hopes for this book and of course it did not let me down!

Oh my god poor King loosing his wife and daughter, that was heartbreaking! It hits you as soon as you open this book, you’re hit with King loosing his family and it was honestly heartbreaking. Like it hits you in the feels immediately. Then obviously after Operation Mayhem it changed him a lot into somebody who is untrusting and only has one thing on his mind and that is revenge after Dawson shot him in the eye.

I really like Laura, stubborn and yet smart (ish) in a way, after King turned up she kind of was more switched onto the fact that Dawson wasn’t telling the whole truth to her. I loved how caring and protective she was of Faith and that she was willing to look after her like she was her own child.

Faith is the cutest little human ever. I loved her, I also loved how the guys take both of them in and are willing to help them no matter what. Also the fact she has a hearing aid I also think was very interesting and I liked how that was represented and it was very interesting.

I love the connection between King and Laura, the way it just built between them before it became a sexual attraction between them. Especially as he fills her in on what happened with Dawson who is her brother and Operation Mayhem as a whole. I also think it was very interesting that she managed to be able to convince King to let her revenge go and not kill him but instead try to help him and I thought that was very interesting.

King and Faith had a very interesting relationship and it was so cute. I really don’t know what it is about characters and kids that aren’t theirs that the relationship between them just becomes more special and more cute especially as you see the bond between them create and I just think that’s precious and sweet. So all three of them together is also the cutest thing ever.

Holy shit what a ride. I can’t believe they’ve managed to capture Dawson and even that instead of killing him are willing to help him and protect him. I guess deep down for them he’s still part of their team and they are starting to live normal lives so he should too. I just think it was interesting ending and one I totally wasn’t expecting.

Can’t wait for the next book! These books keep me hooked and Lindsay put a post up the other day saying we are expecting the next one out in 2020 so I have a bit to wait but it will be worth it!

Love is sweeter.
Jason Gould will never fit in, so he doesn’t even try. Content to stay on the periphery of society, he works hard, plans for his future, and keeps to himself. His senior year should be filled with early morning shifts, gym sessions to keep his pent-up anger under control, and readying himself to face the rest of his life alone.
One ray of sunshine refuses to let him fall into darkness. Emma won’t leave his side no matter what is thrown at them.
When a woman who is dying to fit in joins forces with a man who never will, they just may find they fit together in ways neither could have ever imagined, and they’ll discover a life well loved is the sweetest revenge of all.

I’d like to thank L. Woods PR for sending me an e-arc of this, so I have never read from this author before but the description totally drew me in and I was really curious about this book. It is nothing like I have ever read before and I felt so many conflicting feelings throughout reading this book and it was very interesting.

Emma the main character for the first like half of this book I really didn’t like her. She was just so annoying. At times she was all about herself and she just wanted to be loved which I can understand. She’s very insecure which really bugged me because she had no need to be so insecure and she always felt like she wasn’t enough which got very obsessive at times. Around halfway through I actually started to like Emma whether it was because she started to get stronger and finally take control what was happening in her life and I loved that!

Jason he was also another character I hated until halfway through this book, he was so self-pitying about his face and it got annoying. But halfway through I fell in love with his character and I have no idea why which was just amusing.

I loved the banter between Jason and Emma, although at times I really did think some of what he said was hurting especially for making her feel like she’s fat. Although that being said it also felt like school child pulling pigtails in the playground. I loved the relationship that it turned into and I was completely invested in their relationship.

Rosie really was a toxic friendship, like the stuff she pulled in this book I was just like no that is a terrible friendship, although I loved how she tried to play matchmaking between Jason and Emma. But other than that she was a terrible friend to both Emma and Jason and I actually hated her character.

Kieran is a bloody joke with his jealousy, he is Emma’s ex-bed buddy, and the jealousy through this book was a joke. He’d make out he didn’t want her but the moment she showed interest in Jason he wanted her. He’d treat her like complete and utter shit. So every time he was jealous I was just like you stupid noob.

I don’t want to go into the plot of this book because I didn’t know much so you should go into it like that, but this book was amazing. I was unsure whether I liked this or not like through the book I kept changing my mind, in the end, I decided I loved it. The book had perfectly flawed characters.

The wrong stroke of her sword could undo everything she’s ever worked for, earn her the fury of her friends … and exile to certain death.
But you can’t keep a true warrior down. When things are darkest, a flame rises out of the desolation.

I’d like to thank Lady Amber Tour’s for sending me an e-arc of this book! Amber herself contacted me and asked if I wanted to read a fantasy book that needed a few more people on the tour. So I was like why not? And this is that book!

This book was very fast paced and I loved reading all about the battle, we had a very strong female character and that was Dyrfinna. I love the world building in this story it is so great and vivid and an even better thing. DRAGONS. Mother fucking Dragons! I love me some dragons.

Dyrfinna is a brilliant character strong, a great swordsman and a good commander in the battle. I just missed you know description about her and I wanted to know more about her and I didn’t get that.

There were loads of characters that sometimes it was just hard to keep up with and in the end, I did lose who was who. The one thing I did miss in this book is a pronunciation guide. After reading this whole book I can still barely pronounce majority of the names in this book, so that would have really been helpful. I had to admit other than the battle and why they were fighting I was a little clueless about what was going off.

The ending kept me hooked and I kind of wanted to keep reading find out how’d she would get off the island but through some of the other stuff I just found myself a bit uninterested. It looked really good but it just wasn’t for me!

The Fourth Time Charm – Maya Hughes

56518257. sy475

“Are you sleeping with my daughter?”

Not a question I want to hear from my coach. The man holding my pro future in the palm of his hand.

The answer: No.

The real answer: I’d sure as hell like to be.

Marisa’s been my best friend since third grade. And now she needs my help—and a place to stay. Senior year was supposed to be the year to keep some distance until the season finished and my draft prospects were safe.

But resisting her is becoming impossible. Movie Thursdays under the blankets. Study sessions on my bed. Wild party nights where I kept any guy interested at bay with a single glare.

Her dad can bench my ass for the entire season, so she’s off limits—for now.

She’s the only woman I’ve ever loved. And one heated night, I can’t stop fighting every cell in my body and can’t stop myself from sampling her sexy smile, her sweet smell, and her sultry curves.

We’re walking a tightrope with my future on the line. Let’s just make sure Coach doesn’t find out…

So this is the fourth book in the Fulton U series it started with The Perfect First, The Second We Met, and The Third Best Thing and now this book. I had high expectations for this book being that we’ve been dangled this relationship all the way through the other books and it didn’t disappoint.

LJ and Marisa’s friendship is special, I love the bond they have with each other but obviously they both have feelings for each other that they think are unrequited and honestly the dance that these two do around their feelings. It made me laugh the fact they both wouldn’t admit to having their feelings in case it ruined the friendship when in fact not telling each other is usually what can ruin these things.

LJ is really cute and protective, I love how much of a family man he is. I also love that he takes everything on his shoulders but that can also be a really bad thing as he takes too much on sometimes.

Marisa has had it rough, not really knowing a positive or good family she feels like she has nobody other than LJ and she doesn’t want to ruin that. I felt really bad for her when it’s revealed her mum was an alcoholic and her dad left when she was a little. She’s had it rough.

I love that Marisa not cooking is so heavy in this book and we realise how much of a bad cook she actually is. But it’s still funny especially LJ trying to not hurt her feelings I just love it. So precious.

For the majority of this book it was a 4 star read and then something happened that spun this book around and made it a 5 star book. We have Marisa’s dad who is also the coach trying to repair his relationship with her. Which doesn’t happen until the end of the book when they reach a more mutual understanding and honestly when it happens in the book if you’ve read it you know what I mean. I cried. I sobbed my heart out when I was reading the emails. That is what turned this book from a 4 to a 5 for me.

I really loved LJ and Marisa’s relationship and they were perfect for each other I loved their story so much and I’m kind of sad Fulton U is over for now but I feel like Keyton really deserves book.

The Bet – D.K. Combs

Make her orgasm, right there in the theater. This was the bet that started the end, the bet that changed his life.
Catfished and stuck with a sleezeball for a date, Bristol is miserable and angry. Screw Tinder and swiping right, she just wanted a quick one night stand. With a fake as her date, she doesn’t expect the night to end on a good note…until she sees him. When her eyes land on the dark, sinfully handsome man at the concession stand of the movie theater, she’s unprepared when he sits right next to her.
Every bet has a price; it’s just a matter of how far you’re willing to go.
Noah never would have guessed that the uptight, condescending woman he saw at the concession line would turn out to be a fireball of lust and desperation. Getting her to climax in the middle of a movie? No problem. Getting her out of his head afterward? Definitely a problem.

I would like to thank Daqri (the author) for sending me an ARC of this book! I have read some of her work before when she was uploading on wattpad so it was very exciting when I saw that she was publishing a book and I jumped at the chance to get an ARC of this.

I really enjoyed this book better than I thought I would about half way through this I was unsure whether I was going to like it because of what was happening in the books but I loved it. It all worked out and it was amazing. Daqri’s writing is so easy to read and I didn’t even struggle with the writing it was just very easy and I loved that.

I really liked Bristol’s character, although me personally did not connect with her I did really like her, I loved the fact that she was so work driven and that she did have ambition and I really like that in a character. Her attitude on relationships also made me chuckle a bit and the fact the only reason she went on dates was to have sex. Yes to like a 21st-century woman, I really did love this character.

Noah was a dick at first but as always it was very attractive in a character, and it was interesting to see how he thought about Bristol after first meeting her and even though his friend made a bet for her and he did it but he started getting feelings for her and just seeing that it made me smile and how certain things did change for him when it came to Bristol.

I really enjoyed their relationship and even though she did push him away at times he did still try and push his way into his life and the night they spent together after their terrible date it was one of my favourite parts of the book. I won’t say much more than that because I don’t want to spoil you guys! But definitely best part of the book for me. The ending was good I really liked how it ended too!
