Royals – Rachel Hawkins

Meet Daisy Winters. She’s an offbeat sixteen-year-old Floridian with mermaid-red hair; a part time job at a bootleg Walmart, and a perfect older sister who’s nearly engaged to the Crown Prince of Scotland. Daisy has no desire to live in the spotlight, but relentless tabloid attention forces her to join Ellie at the relative seclusion of the castle across the pond.

While the dashing young Miles has been appointed to teach Daisy the ropes of being regal, the prince’s roguish younger brother kicks up scandal wherever he goes, and tries his best to take Daisy along for the ride. The crown–and the intriguing Miles–might be trying to make Daisy into a lady . . . but Daisy may just rewrite the royal rulebook to suit herself.

I was sent this book as part of Amazon’s Vine review programme. This is no way affects my review. As always all my opinions are my own! (Side note: It was really cool being invited to the programme because I knew nothing about it. But I get to review a load of cool things.)

This was so cute. This story is literally what I needed right now.

I loved Daisy, she was so funny and sarcastic and I am so glad she practically put up a fight against everything. Also I can see where people say oh she’s a selfish brat, but I disagree I wouldn’t want someone to come in and dictate how I got to do something or live so go Daisy.

Miles. I loved him. I think he described himself perfectly on page 156 “I’m being a jackass. But I’m a jackass that is going to help you.” He is a jackass but he owns it. Honestly, he didn’t seem that much of a jackass. I don’t know what that says about me because his behaviour was just hilarious to me and not offensive. (Does that say a lot how I’ve been raised? I don’t know sometimes it just feels like the UK kind of thing that we’re all used to people that are blunt as fuck and insult each other quite a bit).

Seb was an asshole but he was a great asshole. I loved his character. Just the trouble he would find himself in and then the situations he put himself in was just hilarious.

Daisy’s dad is legit the best dad I’ve seen in books for a while I lived for their relationship. It was just so cute how close they were and that Daisy could lean on her dad also they had the same sense of humour which there were so many golden moments throughout this book of humour between them. Daisy’s mum was also quite funny but unintentional just so many times she was like you are your dad’s daughter. It was so amusing.

I also could get with Daisy’s feeling of feeling second went it came to Ellie, and I can totally understand that feeling and it was portrayed so well. I also loved that finally at the end Ellie apologises for being a terrible sister because through the whole Scotland trip she was terrible. So I’m glad she apologised for that.

The royal family were just a mess and that in itself was amusing.

So I really loved this story it was cute and fluffy. It wasn’t very deep but the characters were good and interesting the plot kept me reading. I think that was more for the humour because it was hilarious.
