Plagued by recurring dreams of a faceless, yet strangely familiar man, and struggling to adapt to unique powers, Morgan Cauldwell moves halfway across the country to Manchester Academy. Once at MAC, Morgan meets the mysterious Chase Thomas. He knows more about Morgan than she knows about herself, and through him, Morgan learns she is Gifted. With the help of Chase and the Gifted Council, Morgan begins to learn how to control and develop the powers that have kept her isolated her whole life.
While the mysteries of her dream man begin to unfold, Morgan’s powers quickly surpass even the Council’s expectations. But how much power should one person be allowed to possess…and at what price? Morgan finds herself face to face with her worst nightmares, where nothing is as it seems and not all Gifted are content with the powers they’ve been given.
I’d like to thank Lady Amber Tours for sending me a copy of all three of these books as well as Jenny Phillips! It is very much appreciated.
At the start of the book I really didn’t care about the characters, actually all the way through I didn’t care. Well, I began to care somewhere along the way because at the end when Chase leaves my heart broke and I was crying. Like I don’t know why I went to the point of not liking Chase and Morgan to loving them and being very sad when Chase left her at the end.
I loved Iris. She is a side character and she was fabulous the scenes that she was in I loved them. I think in the beginning she was the only character I cared about. She was just an amazing character. I loved her.
The council and gifts are an interesting concept in this book, I loved how we found out the same way Morgan was discovering, it felt like information overload and I can only imagine Morgan felt the same way so I really enjoyed that! The story starts off very slow and then goes fast-paced once Morgan kind of meets Chase and knows what she is. I don’t want to go into too much detail about the plot because of spoilers. But I really liked the plot it was interesting. The plot didn’t connect until the end.
There was one thing that annoyed me so much and that was a love triangle, I mean I loved a good love triangle as good as the next person but this one, I really didn’t like. It got boring fast and honestly when it came to the Morgan and Nolan scenes I had the urge to skip them but didn’t. I just felt like they didn’t have any chemistry between them and I really didn’t like the romance. I did love the romance between Chase and Morgan I felt like they had the chemistry between them and the feelings were genuine between Chase and Morgan. I liked it.
With Chase’s departure still haunting her, Morgan Cauldwell is just settling back in to life at MAC. Now a regular at Council meetings, Morgan is only getting stronger…but what good are incredible powers if you can’t even protect yourself from a broken heart?
Morgan falls into old routines as her time at MAC winds down. The closer graduation creeps the more someone doesn’t want her to make it that far. Could it be her grandfather or Raven coming to finish off the job?
Gathering strength from some unexpected sources, Morgan decides she is done hiding and braces herself for the ultimate betrayal. Can her fragile heart survive the truth and the uncertainty her future holds?
Again I’d like to thank Lady Amber Tours and Jenny Phillips for sending me a copy of this book, it is very much appreciated. So if you haven’t read the first book definitely don’t carry on reading these reviews. I will try and make sure there are no major spoilers but no promises I’m afraid!
So we carry on straight away from where the first book left off and we see Morgan heartbroken although the fact Nolan tries to sweep back in is quite annoying.
I loved Jackson he was Chase’s brother and he was funny, I really loved him and I was heartbroken when he did the thing that he did but I don’t want to tell you because of spoilers and you should be as surprised as I was. I loved his character though he’s so much like Chase and at the same time not. I loved it!
I always felt like Iris had a bigger role in this series but she doesn’t, I wish she did. She’s my favourite character in this series even more so than the actual main characters. I just love her so much!
I don’t like Rylan or the council. I don’t really want to go into that much because I feel like it’s more plot orientated and I don’t want to spoil you guys too much. I actually couldn’t see where the plot was going, and I loved that. I liked not having a clue! Again I don’t want to go into too much detail because I’d rather not spoil it.
When Chase came back oh my heart melted I was a mess, I loved the relationship between him and Morgan. They are so great together. I love them, I hated Rylan trying to interrupt their relationship like get the blob out nobody wants you here.
Morgan Cauldwell’s life appears to finally have settled down. However, for Morgan, normalcy never lasts long. College classes have begun and she should be looking forward to attending the Gifted Ball with her boyfriend, Chase. Except for her strained relationship with the Gifted Council, everything should be perfect…. so why is she still dreaming about her dead soulmate? And why does she seem to be the only person concerned with her evil Grandfather’s whereabouts?
When the Ball is crashed, Morgan’s worst fears are confirmed, and she finds herself at the mercy of Stephen and his traitorous sidekick. Can Chase find her before the ultimate sacrifice is made, or will it be up to Morgan to convince the two people who have never hesitated to hurt her that their plan is seriously flawed?
I’d like to thank Lady Amber Tours and Jenny Phillips for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. I am very glad that I got to read this trilogy one after another rather than waiting for the next book to release.
Again I love Chase and Morgan their relationship was so cute and how he just wants to protect her, I love it. I love them. Through all three books, both of these characters make progress in terms of they kind of improve themselves, like especially Chase became less selfish especially when it came to Nolan and his little problem although I can understand why Chase didn’t always want to help him being that they were in a love triangle. But that being said I was glad they all managed to become friends and help Nolan.
It had a great plot and it all, for the most part, wrapped up by the end of the story, obviously, some questions left unanswered for not only the readers but the characters too. I loved the story and plot.
I feel like this world could give so much more and even maybe a few more stories, I feel like there is an Iris story there? Possibly, maybe?! PLEASE. I just I love this world and there is definitely so much more to come from it. At least, in my opinion, I hope we do get more from this world even if it is not these characters.
The writing was great, easy flowing and I loved the story that Jenny Phillips has managed to create as well as the world. The world building in this story is amazing and I love it! Great series would recommend it, highly easy to read and very fast paced.
