Mark of Truth – Graceley Knox

Ever Leath, leader of the deadliest crew within the Magical Enforcement and Containment Agency’s ranks, has always known she’s a half-breed—until a visit from her estranged mother changes everything. She’s determined to marry Ever off for political gain, no matter the consequences—even if it means Ever’s life.

Searching for the truth leads to disturbing doubts about Ever’s heritage, and just as answers appear, so does Dare Fitzpatrick. Captain of the Royal Goblin Guards and son to the current Goblin King, he claims he knows who Ever’s real father is and that she could be in danger. Ever doubts Dare, until he helps her escape the clutches of her would-be suitor and grants her shelter within the Goblin Kingdom.

Staying in Goblin, which has previously been off-limits to half-breeds, is a risk Ever has to take to keep everyone she loves safe. Neither of them planned on the fiery heat between them, but Dare won’t take no for an answer. Ever knows she can’t risk losing her heart to the cocky goblin, despite her attraction to him. At least that’s the plan.

Until it all falls apart.

I would like to thank Bare Naked Words for sending me an arc of this! The book is already out! This is in preparation for the sequel. I read this book in one sitting it was so gripping and once I started it I couldn’t stop. You are thrown straight into the action for this book, you get to see all parts of this world and you can immediately tell it’s not much of a kind world. It’s such a gripping world and something that helped understanding this world is that there was a glossary included at the beginning of the book to help you with terms that are used throughout the novel.

Ever’s character was really interesting! I loved how kickass she was and she didn’t really take any shit from anyone. But I also loved that she really cared about the people in her crew and she relied on them as much as they relied on her. Her friendship with Doyle I also loved it made me smile at times especially when at the beginning he would change her and put to bed when she’s got a little but too drunk! So I really loved that friendship.

Dare was such an interesting character, I loved him with Ever their relationship was an interesting dynamic especially as he kind of wanted a relationship where for Ever it was kind of sex which turned into something more. I loved his protectiveness over her even though she didn’t want him to protect her because she could fight for herself. It was interesting dynamic and I did love the scenes that they were together. (Small warning if you are interested in reading this, there are some very explicit sex scenes. They are written very well and they totally match up to the character’s personalities, so I also loved that.)

Upon entering a house they meet some gargoyles and two baby gargoyles get themselves attached to Ever and they are the cutest little thing ever! She named them Anarchy and Chaos and they were so cute it was like cute little puppies but gargoyles and I completely fell in love with those little things! They were my favourite thing in the book.

It’s such a fast paced action filled back I didn’t feel lost in this world and I was brought along. It’s such a good book and it sets up the sequel brilliantly! I can’t wait for the sequel if it’s anything like this book it’s going to be amazing!
