King – Jamie Begley

King
My good intentions always led to disaster. The cold hard truth is that I was never meant to be a father to Lily. Staying in Treepoint, Kentucky for a few weeks to get to know my daughter was meant to be a time of discovery, instead I find out that she’s married to a killer and living in a sex club. I’m going to find out how to destroy The Last Riders and give Lily the future she deserves.

Evie
He thinks I’m a whore; he doesn’t know me. I’m nobody’s fool, but he thinks he’s going to use me to find The Last Riders only weakness. That’s his biggest mistake of all. There’s more to me than meets the eye. King thinks he’s too good for me, that I’m less than dirt in his eyes. What the King of Queen City is going to find out too late is that I’m his judge, and I hold his life in my hands.

Warning: This work of fiction is intended for mature audiences only. All sexually active characters portrayed in this ebook are eighteen years of age or older. Please do not buy if strong sexual situations, multiple partners, violence, drugs, and explicit language offends you.

So I started this by reading Razer’s RideViper’s Run and Knox’s stand and Sex PistonTeasedTainted, Shade’s Fall and now King. I would highly reccommend reading it in the order I have just put above because the series is so much better that way!

This review will contain spoilers.

So King is a very interesting character we first see him in Teased and then Tainted and then obviously in Shade’s Fall. He is the King of Queen City and is used to getting what he wants. He certainly learns a lot through this book when it comes to Lily and The Last Riders and especially Evie. King wants to do his best for Lily, but the issue is he has no idea what Lily needs now and like any father he isn’t quite happy with Lily being married to Shade.

Evie from the first book I loved Evie, I loved how loyal she was to The Last Riders and in this book we find out a massive part of Evie’s backstory and so much makes sense knowing her backstory and why she is loyal to them.

King is so savage wanting to try and use Evie to get dirt on The Last Riders, I mean you could tell the moment he thought of this plan it would go tits up and tits up it went. I loved reading it going tits up because it was hilarious.

I thought that it was very interesting seeing Evie getting slightly bored of that lifestyle, the partying all night and working at the factory. I love that she is willing to try and find something different but also not being ashamed of her lifestyle and that The Last Riders do have her back. I love it.

Think it’s hilarious Evie gets joy at annoying shade whilst Lily is around, especially because she knows that Shade won’t do anything whilst Lily is around.

Lucky. One of my favourite men finally move back into the clubhouse. I love that both him and Shade are just willing to do whatever it’s necessary to make sure that Lily doesn’t see him in any activities at the club. I love that Lucky wants to protect her from that.

Shade and king are so interesting. All I could think whilst reading the scene when they were having dinner is 2 alpha men beefing out.

My heart broke for Evie, reading her back story and hearing her tell it to King. Broke my heart. The fact she was raped whilst she was stationed and the only one there for her was Shade and he took care of her. This story just showed how close Evie and Shade are with each other and I loved it. And then when Levi Evie’s high school sweet heart died and she lost him and then having to see Knox’s grief his wife Sunshine, who was set in replace of her had died and she felt guilt for that it was heart breaking. I love that Shade was just there to pick her up and help her. You could understand why they were so close. I found it very interesting also that Shade refused to give Evie his vote when she went to join The Last Riders and didn’t actually approve of her being there at first.

King and Evie banter so much. It’s hilarious the jealousy that they are both having but yet refuse to admit to each other. The fact that they are willing to play each other rather than admitting their true feelings for each other is hilarious in itself. I love their relationship although quite amusing at first when it’s built on trying to destroy each other.

A scene in this book that did make me laugh was when Evie was at the strip Club with King and she played poker, the fact that the three men she was playing with underestimated her is hilarious. Also that King just orders a whiskey whilst watching Evie win poker is hilarious.

So we get to a point in this book when King fucks up, although we all expected that really. Someone had to fuck up. His mistrust of people finally catches up with him when he accuses Evie of snooping when she didn’t especially after she just gave her heart to him.

There is a point in this book where Evie gets kidnapped as collateral so King won’t ruin somebody’s deal and damn the anger when King finds out. It is amazing how he and the Predators get so fast. I also love that when it’s all over and there’s just Rabbit (Evie’s military friend) left, that he is then shot by a sniper. We all know who that sniper is. I love that she is willing to step in front of King and protect him from Shade.

Penni is amazing. I love her.

When Brooke, Evie’s sister who she has an horrendous relationship with is back on the scene Shade is there straight away seeing if she’s okay and if she needs any help. It is revealed that Brooke instigated the whole thing of Evie being raped. I also love that when Shade needs to talk to Lily about Brooke that he asks Evie for permission whether he can reveal her story.

I love that King eventually wins Evie back and that she forgives him it also is amusing that King is willing to put everything aside for Evie and he finally understands how important The Last Riders are to Evie and Lily.

Baby showers are always eventful but Beth’s baby shower really took the cake on this one. The girls are left in the club house as all the men ran away to Cash’s cabin when they discovered that Sex Piston and her crew was going to be there. The chickens. So it’s all fun and games at first although one of my favourite scenes in this is when Evie literally has enough of Sex Piston’s crew asking questions that she tells everyone the only members she never fucked was Shade and Lucky.

And then the exciting stuff begins to happen! There is a storm and the girls are having someone break in. Shade is wanting to return home because he knows Lily doesn’t do well in storms and eventually they all decide to head back earlier and it gets a foot up their asses when Shade get a hold of Lily. Switch back to the break in and Beth has now gone into labour and Evie is delivering her babies! It was such a powerful scene and when the gunmen do finally enter the room the only thing that Lily is bothered about is the baby and she begs them to not kill the baby.

Then of course Shade comes in and saves the day. The man is amazing. I also love that when they’re at the hospital waiting for news about Beth and the babies. King tells her that he’s never been so scared for Lily or Evie before and that before any of them even got off the bike Shade was in the house and the shots were fired.

I also love that Beth manages to bring everyone together. Whilst in the hospital not only do The Last Riders show up to support and wait to hear news about Beth so do the Destructors and The Blue Horsemen and I love that the bond was built between them all.

Such a beautiful ending. I loved the ending I love how Lily told King she was pregnant, with the photo album and then showing him the sonogram and then calling him dad it literally brought a tear to my eye. This was an amazing end and I love that finally King and Lily are able to be father and daughter without so much getting in the way.

This was a great story and I really loved King and Evie’s story and now it’ll be onto Cash’s next which I am very excited for!
