October Wrap Up

October was a very broken up month for me, I read a little bit at the beginning of the month and then entered a huge reading slump through the middle until the last few days where I did nothing but read. I read 9 books this month and I am really happy with that, and I think for the most part I enjoyed every book!

  1. 10 Dates – Emily James
44648478. sy475
Joanie Fox can’t wait to settle down and marry the man of her dreams. However, when her engagement starts to look more stalemate than soulmate, her best friend stages an intervention sure to make even the most hardened, serial daters wince: 10 Dates in 10 Days.

Statistically, if you kiss a lot of frogs there’s bound to be at least one that’s not a complete toad, isn’t there? With nothing to lose, Joanie embarks on a crazy rollercoaster of blind dates. After all, what can possibly go wrong in the search for Mr. Right?

10 Dates is a standalone, sexy, laugh out loud romantic comedy with a happy ending. It is not for the feint hearted and is best suited for readers over the age of eighteen due to sexual themes and mature content.

I really enjoyed this book, it made me laugh so many times throughout and there’s a particular scene with some pot cookies that just still makes me laugh when I think about it. I really enjoyed the plot and the characters and it was one of those stories that I really needed it. I do have a review but considering I’m in the middle of transferring sites you’ll have to keep an eye out for it!

  1. Dark Desire – A.J. Daniels

Everyone always says love will find you when you’re not looking. Well, they’re not wrong. Except, the man my heart stupidly fell for was more interested in playing his own twisted game of catch and release. Claiming me for himself, then pushing me away when I got too close, but there was an aura of darkness clouded around him.
A darkness that beckoned to me.
A darkness I was grateful for when those he thought he could trust ripped me away in the middle of the night to be a pawn in their own sick, twisted game.

She was supposed to be an itch I needed to scratch. That red dress and those pale blue eyes called to me like a siren. In my line of work falling in love is dangerous.
“I believe there’s good in you, Brax,” she had said.
“Baby, I’m the thing monsters are afraid of,” I warned her.
I pushed her away, thinking she would be safe from this fucked up life I lead.
I couldn’t’ve been more wrong.
My enemies smelled fresh blood. They knew if they wanted to take me down, they had to get to her. But it wasn’t my enemies I had to worry about. No, the threat was a lot closer than I thought. It shouldn’t have surprised me. After all, the devil was once an angel.
Klara was my light out of this hell, and now she was in danger of being snuffed out. But not if I could help it.
They should’ve thought twice before taking what belongs to me. Now, I’m out for blood, and I’m not stopping until my concrete floor runs red.

*Only suitable for 18+

I really enjoyed Dark desire! I loved the characters and the story, it kept me listening. Good job it wasn’t rubbish really. I loved Braxton he was so Alpha and I loved it so much! I was not a fan of the narrator it took me a long time to get into this narrator and more often than not it really distracted me from the story.

  1. Foolish Riot – Karen Renee
Patricka “Trixie” Baker grew up being used and abused. The night she met her “knight in a leather cut,” she dedicated herself to infiltrating his life. For ten years, all she’s wanted is to be Roll’s property more than anything. Anything. She’s a fixture in the Riot MC, but not part of the family. She never cared what anyone thought of her, but she refuses to be anyone’s fool. With determination to change, and Roll’s inability to commit, she won’t waste any more of her youth on him.
Homer “Roll” Rolland has two secrets; one he knows will hold Trixie back and limit her life. He’s wanted her in his bed since the first time he laid eyes on her, but holding her back is the last thing he wants to do to the woman he loves. When his other secret leads to Trixie being brutally attacked by a rival MC, Roll is forced to make a decision.

Trixie wants to be Roll’s property. Roll’s secrets hold him back from her. Will they find a way to stay together?

The plot was very intense with H attacking Trixie everything spun out of control that started a war between the MCs. I also loved how we saw the different men from the other Riot chapter. I also loved that they were all so willing to protect Trixie and they knew that Trixie and Roll really liked each other.

  1. Venom – Dee Garcia

Releasing as part of the 2019 Sinister Fairy Tales Collection!

From the moment I befriended him, I set a conspiracy in motion.
A revolution.
Kill Peter Pan.
And I was their ultimate weapon.
I was also none the wiser, falling hopelessly and irrevocably in love with him as the years went by.
Just as they hoped I would.
But their plan comes to a screeching halt when Peter vanishes into thin air, something I’ll learn has nothing to do with Rosewood at all.
You see, Peter never truly loved me…because he loved a wench instead.
He lied to me, he used me, he left me, and he broke me.
Forever altering me in ways that incite revenge when Hook sweeps in with revelations and the ultimate truth.
Peter may have turned his back on me, but in the end, he and his precious little Wendy will choke on every last tear I once shed.
And I’ll have Hook to thank for that.

It’s no secret I always despised Peter Pan.
A common threat amongst the factions, I should’ve killed him when I had the chance, long before he sank his claws deep into Tinksley’s heart.
But his death at my hands wasn’t what the plan called for, despite how I felt for her.
I’d always been drawn to the girl, innocently enough at first…until that vile abomination marked her with his stamp, unleashing a sense of propriety I had no rights to.
Didn’t matter—he had her…and I wanted her.
Then like magic, he disappeared.
I thought my time had come, but the road to owning Tinksley’s heart comes with a price.
A price so dark and depraved it strips her of her purity and awakens the beast within.
All because of the truth.
Sometimes, there is honor in revenge, and it will be my utmost pleasure to watch as Peter Pan finally meets his maker.
His maker who will soon be my Queen.

I really enjoyed this book and it was a brilliant start to the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection. If you click on the title or picture you’ll be sent to the review. I really enjoyed that we got to see multiple point of views from Hook, Tinksley and Peter. It was especially good being in Hook’s point of view I just found him a really interesting character. I think another thing was that I liked instead of Hook being the villain he is the hero and that it’s Pan that’s the villain. I love that for Tink in her story Peter is the villain and Hook is the hero.

  1. Shifting Gears – Janine Infante Bosco
They’re called one-night stands for a reason. If you’re lucky, there’s a lot of mind-blowing sex and then you never have to see or speak to the person again. It’s fun and uncomplicated. In my case, Bash hightailed it to the airport the next morning so I definitely never expected to run into the former prospect for the Charon MC again. But when his mother passed, he dragged his pipes all the way from Texas to New York, and now he’s crashing at the Satan’s Knights clubhouse. Which also happens to be where I work and the scene of our one-night crime. If I thought forgetting the orgasm champ was hard before, it just became damn impossible.

Grief can shake a man, make him question his whole damn life and have him taking chances he never thought he’d take. Chances like moving to Staten Island, New York. Chances like prospecting for a new club. Chances like being around a certain fiery bartender who has been in my head since we shared one incredible night. Even though I should be completely focused on earning my colors, there’s a part of me that wants to chance chasing Lydia Gallo for more than one night. I want to break down her walls and uncover every one of her secrets…patch be damned.

*Editorial note: Shifting Gears is the first book in the Satan’s Knights Prospect Trilogy and is a spin-off from Khloe Wren’s Charon MC universe. It can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.*

So I loved this story and I think my only thing was that it was really predictable like I guessed it was Lydia’s ex who was after her and messing with her. I kind of quickly guessed on that it was him although wherever there’s abusive partners involved 9 times out of 10 it’s always them. I’d say if you wanted to enter the MC world this would be a good first book to start with.

  1. The Lost Boys – Lilian Carmine
Fate has brought them together. But will it also keep them apart?

Having moved to a strange town, seventeen-year-old Joey Gray is feeling a little lost, until she meets a cute, mysterious boy near her new home.

But there’s a very good reason why Tristan Halloway is always to be found roaming in the local graveyard…

So for the first time ever I wrote a review for this book which was hard because I’ve read it a dozen times and it’s an old favourite but I think I did a pretty good job. You can read the review by clicking on the picture or title.

The plot was fabulous I loved the idea of a ghost coming back to life and being hunted by the hooded one it was definitely different and I liked the added aspect of Joey’s little emotion gift in this story and you could see how much she struggled with the fact she could see everybody’s emotion. I loved that despite all the craziness of the magic and everything they had going off they still managed to do the normal thing of going to class. This story will always be nostalgic for me and will always be one of my favourites. I love being back in the world and back with these characters it feels like home and I always love going back to old favourites.

  1. Cold Queen – K Webster

Releasing as part of the 2019 Sinister Fairy Tales Collection!

In a cold, empty castle, a young queen is dying.
Weak. Fragile. Disgraced.
But Queen Whitestone is not alone in her final days.
She has her beloved sister.

Until a wicked king rides onto her land.
Arrogant. Insufferable. Demanding.
King Bloodsun has come with an offer…peace in trade for a bride.
He wants the princess.

The fiery king won’t take no for an answer.
He vows to keep the cold queen captive until she gives in to his demands.

A queen bows for no one, though.
Not even when she’s frail and fading away.
She’ll tap into her strength, protecting the only family she has left.

The king is about to learn why they call her the cruel one…

I loved this story, it was perfect. I was hooked from the beginning and fell in love with Ryke and Elzira’s story. The plot was amazing and kept me hooked I really cannot wait for the next one out of this collection.

  1. Drop A Gear and Disappear – Winter Travers
43815455. sy475
They tried to make me disappear.

I thought I had found the brotherhood I had been searching for.

A club to fill the nagging void.

Till they took the woman I loved and left me for dead.

They may have her now, but things are about to change.

Vengeance will be mine.

I absolutely adored this book, I loved Winter Travers’ writing, the characters in this book stole my heart and I cannot wait to read the next book! This was intense from the moment this all kicked off at the party it was intense, I was on the edge of my seat. I could not finish this story fast enough I read it all in one sitting just because I could not put it down.

  1. Lean Into It – Winter Travers
Image result for lean into it winter travers
For years the only place I called home was the open road.

Until the Kings of Vengeance became family.

Setting down roots and building a life sounds so good I can almost taste it.
But evil and trouble are brewing, threatening to take the life and woman I’ve claimed.

I’ll lean into the devil himself and spit in his face before I let that happen.

Vengeance will be mine.

I really enjoyed this book, I cannot wait to see where this series is going to go but I am very excited to carry on with it. I loved both of the characters in this and I loved seeing the MC finally get off the ground, well the building being built in this. I also love that they went into honest money making with a construction business. The book took crazy turns that I did not expect it to take. Overall I loved this book and I cannot wait for the next one!
